BOMBER 4 RULES   2006-2011
 
New Rule Addition under Intent - B.

1. INTRODUCTION

A. NO EXPRESS OR IMPLIED WARRANTY OR SAFETY SHALL RESULT FROM PUBLICATIONS OF OR COMPLIANCE WITH THESE RULES AND/OR REGULATIONS.

B. It is the responsibility of the driver of the car to see that his/her car completely satisfies the rules, including but not limited to all safety rules. The driver of each car represents to the promoter and all others that his/her car has satisfied all applicable rules, including but not limited to safety rules, whenever such driver participates in warm-up, practice or competitive laps.

2. INTENT

A. This class is intended for a low entry-level class and the novice racer. A driver in this class should expect some contact with other cars as entry-level racing. However, blocking, intentional bumping, and violent lane changes, are not acceptable and will be governed by the flagman.

B. If any person win's 2 championships in the Bomber 4 class they must move up to a higher class.

3. COMPETING MODELS

A. Competing bodies are limited to 1970 to current year. Stock In line 4 cylinder carburetor engines only, no turbo chargers, no mid engine, front or rear wheel drive cars allowed.

4. GENERAL CONSTRUCTION

A. Body must maintain original manufacturer’s dimensions. Body components factory produced parts only steel doors are to be welded bolted or riveted closed.

B. Car shall have all body parts to race. Specifically the hood, roof, trunk lid, all doors, fenders, quarter panels, all floor pans, front and rear bumpers and windshield. Seat and steering shall remain in stock position.

C. Steel inner body panels to remain intact with the exception of bolt in dash. Inner door panel on driver side, hood and trunk lid must have inner panels removed. Firewall trunk floor and inner wheel wells to remain intact No cutting to enlarge wheel wells.

D. All flammable and breakable material is to be removed. All body trim, door handles, hood ornaments, and glass or plastic lenses. Air scoops, Wings, and Spoilers are not permitted.

E. Full windshields are mandatory, OEM

F. NO MIRRORS allowed.

5. ENGINE

A. 2.6 Liter limit.

B. In line 4-cylinder stock, make to make, model to model.

C. Stock carburetor.

D. Stock mounting.

E. Toe hook on throttle and double return spring on all linkage.

F. Cable throttle linkage shall be allowed on transverse mounted engines only.

6. ROLL CAGE

A. Roll cage is constructed of 1 3/4" OD .095 minimum wall thickness required.

B. 4 point cage with two shock tower supports. The main hoop must contain a full X.

C. Three door bars on drivers door, 2 bars on passenger door. Main joints shall be gusseted. All cages are subject to change as to safety inspection.

D. No front or rear hoops.

7. FRAME

A. Frame must match body, make-to-make, model-to-model and year-to-year.

B. No altering of frame. Shorten or lengthen or to allow suspension travel is not permitted.

8. SUSPENSION

A. Minimum ride height is 5 inches. Maximum wheel base 109".

B. Suspension shall remain stock. No altering of suspension allowed other than to the coil springs that can be cut to obtain correct ride height. Leaf springs may be heated and bent to obtain ride height. No lowering blocks.

C. Factory adjusts only to obtain cast and camber. No altering permitted.

D. All A-Frames must match make/model of car.

9. BUMPERS

A. Bumpers must be stock and be in stock position.

B. Reinforcing is not permitted, except the bumpers may be welded to the stock brackets or welded to the frame horn.

10. BRAKES

A. Brakes must be stock. All four wheels must be functional. No adjustable proportioning valves.

11. WHEELS AND TIRES

A. 5-1/2 inch stock steel wheels 13" to 15".

B. Factory and after market rims with factory stock off set.

C. Tires max. Width 7" radials. Highway treads only no recaps. DOT approved. 13" to 15" to obtain stagger.

12. BATTERY

A. Battery may be in stock position or mounted on passenger floor boards or behind driver. Minimum of 6" from exterior.

B. One 12-volt battery fastened securely and covered. (Battery box recommended)

13. COOLING SYSTEM

A. Radiator shall remain in stock position. OEM style

B. Radiator shall have an over-flow catch can.

C. No Anti-Freeze allowed!

14. FUEL CELL

A. Mandatory 8-gallon steel can fuel cell mounted on floor trunk center and furthest ahead.

B. Minimum mounting will be 3 one-inch straps (two parallel and one crossing 90 degrees to them.) No plumbers’ tape or chain.

C. No electric fuel pumps.

D. Fire shield constructed of minimum 22-gauge steel to completely separate driver from fuel cell is mandatory.

E. Fuel lines may not enter drivers compartment all fuel lines must be under the car.

F. Gas station pump fuel only.

15. EXHAUST

A. Stock manifold as produced.

B. Mufflers are mandatory.

C. Exhaust must extend behind driver.

16. CLUTCH

A. Clutch must be factory stock.

B. All transmission humps reinforced with belt material.

17. REAR-END

A. Rear-end shall be stock, make-to-make and model-to-model.

B. Spider gears may be welded.

18. DRIVE LINE

A. Driveline strap or chain loop is required.

B. Driveline must be painted white for visibility.

19. SEAT

A. Stock factory bucket seat permitted subject to tech approval. (Aluminum race seat recommended)

1) 5 point harness mandatory.
2) WINDOW NET mandatory
3) FIRE EXTINGUISHER is required.
4) Cars must be able to start on their own to race.
5) The Bomber 4 class is governed and subject to all Mission Valley Speedways requirements for safety and appearance. Mission Valley Board of Directors reserves the right to interpret and /or adjust any and all rules outlined herein in the interest of competition and safety.

DRIVERS, CAR OWNERS AND PITMEN IN THIS CLASS SHALL OBSERVE ALL THE MISSION VALLEY AUTO RACERS GENERAL RULES.

 

If it doesn’t say YOU CAN…..YOU CAN”T! 

RULES TO BE CHANGED MUST HAVE A 70% MAJORITY VOTE OF THE CLASS DRIVERS OR OWNERS THAT PARTICIPATED IN TWO OR MORE RACES AND 70% MAJORITY VOTE OF BOARD MEMBERS. If car owner or driver can’t be contacted or is contacted and doesn’t reply back to the class representative, the vote for the car would be a NO vote. Any rule changes not voted on by driver or owner will be a NO vote.

ONLY in the interest of SAFETY, COST and/or FAIR COMPETITION can 70% of the board of directors make a rule change if the class representative can’t get 70% of the votes from the class drivers or owners.
